If you’re going to try out a new hairstyle, it’s best to show it off when a lot of people are going to see you. At least that’s what celebrities prefer to do whenever they change up their look. Emily Ratajkowski’s short haircut made its debut at the Tony Awards, and it's a part of summer's hottest new hair trend.

Ratajkowski hit the red carpet at the Tony Awards in New York City alongside Michael Kors on June 9 with a completely new 'do: a textured, shoulder-length bob. The model hasn’t ever been one to shy away from striking beauty looks in the past. Her red carpet style almost always includes exaggerated eyeliner or a bold, bright lip shade. Her Tony’s look, though, proved that she can truly pull off anything.

The swimwear designer's bouncy, blown out chop was full of volume and shine, complete with loosely curled ends. Her eyebrow-skimming bangs were worn swept to one side, a cool-girl, modern take on the side bang trend that was absolutely everywhere during the early aughts. Now, to be clear, this look was likely a wig or hairstyling wizardry that involved pinning and tucking her longer layers. (The model's Instagram story this morning showed her with long hair again.) Either way, the results were fantastic.

When it came to her makeup look, Ratajkowski went for old Hollywood glam with black, smoky winged liner, a heavy dose of contouring and bronzing, and a matte, peachy nude color on her lips. Ratajkowski’s outfit was as daring as her haircut — she opted for a black cut-out style Michael Kors gown that bared most of her midriff.

It's no secret that nearly every model and celebrity has been chopping off their locks for the summer. Supermodel Kaia Gerber recently revealed a brand new chin-length look on her Instagram. Actress Lily James also joined the short-hair club when she cut her long blond locks into a sleek bob back in May. And Reese Witherspoon just went scissor-happy with a choppy short look last week.

But few have gone for the incredible Monroe-like volume that EmRata had on the Tony’s carpet. Investing in a high quality blow dryer is absolutely necessary to achieve her look at home. Also, using a curling iron with a larger barrel can add gentle curls to your hair for when you're really in a rush. Products like volumizing mousses are also designed to give you a blown out look without having to visit a salon. For a glossy finish, top off your hair with a light oil to keep flyaways at bay and maintain shine all day long. (Also, if blow-drying and heat styling is going to be a regular practice for you and your bob, use a hydrating hair mask once a week to keep it looking healthy.)

The best thing about bob-style cuts is that they can be worn in so many different ways — if it’s a more slick and straight look you’re after, a few passes with a flat iron is all you need. And, if the warm temps are getting you down, you can always reach for some trusty hair accessories, which are all the rage right now and in abundance. Headbands, scrunchies, hair clips — all are worthy options for keeping your hair out of your face and your style in tact.
