J.Crew’s New Vintage Drop Lets You Shop Its Archives
From classic denim to cozy knits.

J.Crew is going back to the beginning with its first vintage launch, straight from its own archives. Fittingly named “J.Crew Vintage,” the brand’s secondhand drop includes over 200 pieces released between 1983 to 2000. Priced from $80 to $598, customers can directly shop them now from the label online.
With 43 years of designs to choose from, the brand was sure to include its most iconic styles in this new release. J.Crew’s debut curation includes its signature barn jackets, which came out in its very first 1983 collection. The drop also features its preppy rugby polos — another early 80s brand style — in a range of neutrals, colors, and prints. Its soft roll-neck sweaters appear in rich hues, too, just like they first did in its 1988 catalogue.
J.Crew’s vintage drop also has tons of classic, staple pieces that it’s become known for through the decades. There’s plenty of denim shirts and jackets, plus button-downs in light colors and plaid prints, which are all perfect for midseason layering. Multiple pairs of blue jeans are included, in addition to practical nylon windbreakers and short overcoats. With fall around the corner, the edit features lots of cozy knitwear styles — such as its intarsia crewneck and quarter-zip sweaters — as well. On the more casual side, shoppers can also find color-blocked and logo-printed T-shirts, sweatshirts, and hoodies that are great for off-duty dressing and rainy days indoors.
After the launch of its supermodel-filled summer campaign, J.Crew’s secondhand drop is its latest project this year. It also marks the newest instance of a mall-based retailer selling vintage to shoppers, following special releases and in-store shops by H&M, Banana Republic, and Reformation in recent years. With J.Crew onboard, this sustainable practice is growing even more.
