Victoria’s Secret Angels are known for their effortlessly radiant complexion, easy voluminous waves, and sun-kissed skin that looks like they spent the week in Saint-Tropez. And while the latter asset is often the result of some carefully chosen and placed sunless tanner and bronzer, the models have their own tricks for getting that summer glow on their off-duty days. Case in point: Romee Strijd’s favorite beauty products, which are surprisingly attainable.
The Dutch beauty revealed her favorite shade to swipe on during the summer months was not a nude or soft pink but — wait for it — white nail polish. That’s right: a stark hue can apparently always be found in her beauty arsenal. “In the summer I really like white, because it makes you look more tan!” Strijd told The Zoe Report at the Victoria’s Secret Store in Los Angeles to celebrate the brand’s Summer Scent Event. “I always stay on the nude side. I’m not into colorful nails.” It seems even supermodels need a little help getting a tan sans sun.
Oh, and if you’re wondering about what else goes into that year-round summer glow, the secret starts with an “H”: hydration. As cliché as it may sound, Strijd says her signature radiant skin comes with some concerted effort that extends past a stellar bronzer and tan-emphasizing nail polish. For her lips, Strijd reaches for a rose salve lip balm. And for dewy skin, she touts a super-hydrating moisturizer. "Augustinus Bader's moisturizer is really rich," she says. "I also love essential oils like jojoba that give your skin a real glow.” And to top off the freshness, Strijd says she keeps Kiehl’s Cactus Flower Mist on hand for a quick and easy boost of hydration. When it comes to her skin's health and radiance, more is clearly more.
While the model keeps things pretty standard with her nails and skin, fragrance is a different story altogether. When it comes to her summer scent, she likes to pick according to her location. “I like to switch up my fragrance depending on where I’m going,” Strijd says. “If I’m going to brunch or to the beach, I like a fresh, easy fragrance that’s a bit lighter, like Victoria’s Secret Tease Dreamer because it contains coconut for a beach-y vibe. If I’m prepping for a date night or going out, I like to go with a bolder scent like Victoria’s Secret Very Sexy or Bombshell.”
So, there you have it — these are your summer essentials, according to a Victoria's Secret Angel.
