Just in case the world wasn't fully aware of how glam she is, Jennifer Lopez's most recent red carpet appearance made it more than clear. And though the full look reinforced the fact that the star is a fashionable force to be reckoned with, it was J.Lo's updo at the Gotham Awards that really stole the show — and will surely inspire many a holiday look this season.

The star stepped out in New York City on Dec. 2 to attend the Gotham Independent Film Awards for her film Hustlers, which was nominated for Best Feature (the honor, however, ultimately went to new release Marriage Story). And to celebrate her status as a nominee, the lead actress and producer pulled out all the stops when it came to her look.

J.Lo slipped into a body skimming, feather-adorned Ralph and Russo frock, and relied on a striking swirled and curled up-do to complement her ultra-glamorous look — and to showcase the stunning diamond sparklers worn on her ears. The fittingly festive 'do was executed by celebrity hairstylist Chris Appleton, who is no stranger to nailing sleek red carpet-ready looks (he created J.Lo's lob cut this fall and was responsible for Kim Kardashian's warm color change-up too).

The intricate look harkens back to old Hollywood glamour thanks to the several sections that have been swirled and secured in glossy ribbon-like strands atop her head, which are statement-making on their own but even better paired with J.Lo's sultry smoky eye, glowing skin, chic nude lip, and of course her party-ready ensemble.

Appleton first pulled hair back (likely with a shine-enhancing, style holding pomade) so the star's hair looked smooth and polished, before sectioning off strands to create the pinned-up interwoven curls. The effect is sleek but not at all simplistic, and seriously perfect for recreating during the holidays for your most upscale events — just add a sequined, metallic, or embellished gown and you're good to go.
