The right manicure can get you ready for the colder seasons, long before sweaters are taken out of storage and your cycling shorts are swapped for more weather-appropriate pants. However, the new fall 2019 nail polish colors are different than the years before. Traditionally speaking, lacqueristas turned to jewel-toned nail colors as soon as September arrived — but for 2019, some of the most popular nail polish brands out there are flipping the script.

This isn't exclusive to more trend-forward nail brands like Essie or indie polish brands (such as the newcomer Orosa). Dior also got into the trend-spotting spirit with its fall 2019 Power Look collection, mixing in one oh-so recognizable color trend with the more expected gray, taupe, and plum shades.

To see which colors Dior, Essie, and more have chosen for fall 2019, just keep scrolling down; five new shades — from five different brands — to try out this autumn are below.

1. Hay

Naturally, Essie's fall 2019 collection offers up plenty of nail polish inspiration — however, the most eye-catching shade is one of the softest. The brand's new "Hay There" nail polish shade is a creamy, buttery yellow that celebrates one of the more-ignored colors in autumn's palette. (Bonus points: Bella Hadid's recent yellow-tipped French manicure may just give this trend extra staying power.)

2. Clementine

Orosa

Though technically a shade from Orosa's summer 2019 collection, the new orange-red color is the perfect way to transition from this summer's neon peach nail trend into something deeper and more autumnal. The unexpectedly blended shade is also a more unique way to celebrate the leaf-changing weather — versus a classic red or traditional orange shade.

3. Sand

Paintbox's new pre-fall 2019 nail polish duo ushered in an intriguing concept: Pairing a low-key neutral with a dramatically sparkly glitter shade. However you style the holographic shade, the sand-colored creme polish is sure to become a steady part of your rotation.

4. Slime Green

Dior

Yes, one of the biggest color trends of 2018 is now going to be spotted on nails across the beauty community, thanks to Dior's fall 2019 Power Look collection. So, whether you call the shade slime green, lime, or chartreuse — get ready to try out the bold color for yourself.

5. Bordeaux

Though it can be fun to try out a trendy color, nothing gets you into the fall mood quite like a vampy, wine-hued manicure. YSL Beauty's Fall 2019 collection offers up "Bordeaux Underground", a limited-edition color certain to prep you for fall's oversized sweaters, lug-sole boots, and flavored lattes (pumpkin spice or not).
