Kate Middleton isn’t just a duchess: she’s also a style icon in the making. Since she married Prince William back in 2011, she has been a fashion lover’s dream thanks to her attainable, effortless style. Now, that's not to say she can’t dress up from time to time. And when she steps things up, the Duchess does not mess around. For her most recent public outing, for example, Kate Middleton donned a diamond tiara that set the sartorial world ablaze. And while achieving princess status isn't exactly practical, wearing a tiara-inspired headpiece is even if you’re not having dinner with Queen Elizabeth.

The Duchess of Cambridge attended a State Banquet to honor President Trump’s visit to the U.K at Buckingham Palace in London on June 3. To celebrate the occasion, she donned a dazzling silver tiara chock-full of diamonds. Her other accessories were naturally toned down: Middleton wore a pair of diamond-encrusted drop earrings while opting to go necklace-free. From her white ruffled white ball gown to her sleek low bun, she looked every part the quintessential royal.

Now, to be clear, Middleton doesn’t always wear a tiara, but when she does, it’s almost exclusively this one known as Lover’s Knot. She’s worn it several times in the past, and for good reason. The pearl-and-diamond studded heirloom once belonged to her mother-in-law, Princess Diana. It was one of Diana’s favorite pieces, too. The headpiece was her signature pick for trips to Italy and Hong Kong in the ‘80s.

Now, you don’t have to be a princess or a duchess to wear a tiara-inspired look. It’s no secret that bedazzled hair accessories have been one of spring and summer’s most prominent trends. While most go for statement-making hair clips and pins, headbands can pack a punch, too. It’s the perfect way to add a bit of sparkle to even your simplest ensemble.

If you’re not sure about the trend, stick to a more delicate piece with a few perfectly placed crystals. But, if you’re looking for a more bold option, designers like Simone Rocha make shimmery pieces in bright colors. Layer a few different styles together for a feminine look at the next wedding coming up on your calendar. Designer Jennifer Behr is beloved by celebrities like Brie Larson and Nicole Kidman for her pieces. Ahead, The Zoe Report rounded up the best jeweled headbands to amp up your style this summer.
