White sneakers are a year-round favorite, but there’s something about the summer that makes them feel extra vital in your wardrobe. That’s why Gwyneth Paltrow’s slip-on sneakers should be at the top of your shopping list this season. This particular pair looks a bit more elevated than other pairs out there (say, chunkier, dad-like silhouettes), so they work perfectly for the office as well as days off.

Paltrow was spotted leaving the Mayfair Hotel in London with her husband, Brad Falchuk on June 28. She styled her white G. Label button-down with oversized cream-colored trousers and white platform sneakers with a navy bow detail, designed by Alexandre Birman. Her blonde hair was piled into a loose topknot style, and her makeup highlighted her natural features. She accessorized her look with a pale blue ribbon belt, and finished off her entire outfit with a chunky gold chain necklace and coordinating drop earrings.

The actor’s day-off look is the perfect mix of comfortable and elevated. Stylish elements like the platform on her shoes, the exaggerated sleeves on her blouse, and the slouchier fit on her pants lend a modern twist on otherwise basic workwear pieces.

If there’s one thing every stylish woman knows, it’s how to wear the same thing in multiple ways, and Paltrow has perfected the art. Case in point: This isn’t the first time the mother-of-two has worn the same shoes while in London this month. She paired them with slouchy white Bermuda shorts and a navy and white striped sweater — both from G. Label — while leaving the Goop store on June 18. She later styled them with a silk coordinating black-and-white set while strolling through Florence, Italy on June 23, proving just how versatile the footwear can be.

With a seemingly endless amount of white sneakers on the market right now, it can be hard to decide which ones to pick up for yourself. Brands like Adidas and Nike have become known for styles like the Stan Smith and the Air Force 1, respectively. Since then, nearly every luxury brand has been hopping on the bandwagon, too, as more and more It-girls are opting for the casual footwear for all manner of ensembles.

Follow Paltrow’s lead when browsing in the sneaker aisle by looking for options with contemporary elements like statement metallic hardware or bold branding. For an entirely current look, brands like Opening Ceremony have gone fora sleek style with hardly any logos at all. If you’re looking for a more classic, old-school look, go with brands like Vans, who have dominated the slip-on category for decades. Ahead, The Zoe Report rounded up the best platforms on the market right now, including Paltrow's personal picks.
