If your cold-weather hair routine typically involves covering your head with an oversized beanie, Elizabeth Olsen's bangs and highlights may convince you to rethink your approach this year. The actor just debuted the prettiest winter hair change — and you're going to want to follow suit. Prepare to call your stylist, because a little fringe and soft highlights will totally refresh your look.

The actor showed off her brand new chop at the 10th Hamilton Behind The Camera Awards in Los Angeles on Nov. 4. The transformation is a welcomed change of pace for Olsen, whose look is typically defined by simple, tousled hair. Olsen opted for a fresh set of baby-blonde highlights (a subtle change from her signature sandy-blonde look), and lightweight, wispy bangs that touch the tip of her eyelids.

Olsen isn't the only celebrity to opt for bangs this season. Julianne Hough made the ultimate chop in Sept. with a super-blunt bob and layered, French girl-inspired fringe. Bangs have become a mainstay on red carpets in recent months, with the likes of Dakota Johnson and Mila Kunis leading the way.

Olsen made sure her haircut was the focal point of her red carpet look, wearing a black belted mini dress with a high neck and ultra-feminine, heeled sandals adorned with a bow. Olsen completed the look with flushed cheeks, a bright berry lipstick, and a thick swipe of eyeliner along her top lash line.

Although Olsen's hair change isn't as drastic as a bold pixie or layered bob, adding a little bit of color and fringe can be a low-risk way to switch things up this season. Keeping a length you're familiar with will help make styling a new haircut less overwhelming, and a soft color change (like highlights) adds a fresh and subtle component. If you're not willing to part with your long hair in favor of a trendy, shoulder-length cut, adding bangs and highlights à la Olsen will give the illusion of dimension.
