Angelica Ross' Emmys Hair Look Was Courtesy Of This Drugstore Product

Awards shows often offer aspirational style fodder that ignites your fashion and beauty dreams — but don't often translate to your everyday life. That said, there's the occasional look that strikes the perfect balance of glamorous and approachable and makes one feel like they can make red carpet fantasies a reality. Case in point: Angelica Ross' stunning updo at the 2019 Emmy Awards on Sept. 22.

The Pose star stunned on the red carpet in a baby pink one-shoulder gown and effortless hair that was swept up into a bouncy yet elegant ponytail. While the wispy look felt fresh and forward, it took on approachable new heights when it was revealed that it was created with the help of drugstore fave, Dove Hair.

Celebrity hairstylist Cesar Ramirez used the affordable line to create Ross' hair moment, an opportunity he says he couldn't pass up. “Angelica Ross is not only a good friend, but also a brilliant actress," says Ramirez to The Zoe Report. "I jumped at the opportunity to work with her for this year’s Emmys red carpet look. Her custom Michael Costello gown was absolutely stunning with all of its intricate 3-D flowers. I wanted to keep her hair young, effortless, and off-the-shoulders to show off the full details of the gown’s structure.”

To achieve the look, Ramirez first separated clean, damp hair into small sections and sprayed Dove Style+Care Smooth & Shine Heat Protection Spray. "I always start with a heat protector before any style to keep my clients hair healthy and strong," says Ramirez. "Not only does this spray protect, but it also gives the hair amazing shine." Next the hair guru used the Olivia Garden Ceramic + Ion Blowdryer and Ceramics Round Brush to blow dry Ross' hair in small sections for a "smooth finish with lots of volume."

With the actor's hair dry and ready, Ramirez added hair pieces from his WILDFORM hair extensions line in caramel tones to add dimension and fullness.
