The IKEA Bedding Set That Looks Way More Expensive Than It Is

Ikea

In the midst of winter's often chilly, gray (and occasionally snow-capped) days, it's a welcome respite to start thinking about the changes coming in spring — and that doesn't just go for the weather. The whole mindset of the season is about regrowth (literally), so it's a great time to think about refreshing everything from your wardrobe to your home decor. And if you're due to spruce up the latter, a great starting point just might be your bedroom, especially now that everyone's favorite affordable home goods retailer has a ton of perfectly spring-centric options to revamp your sleep situation. That's right, the latest crop of IKEA bedding sets will have you prepped for next season — starting now.

IKEA is already a beloved source for finding organizational hacks and Scandi-inspired furniture that won't blow your budget, but its bedding offerings aren't to be looked over either. That said, right now the retailer's newest sets pull from spring's biggest fashion trends, including dainty florals and Pantone's predicted seasonal colors including Aspen Gold and Living Coral. And considering IKEA's duvet cover and pillow case combos won't typically cost you more than $30, scooping up one of these sets is the perfect way to introduce a spring vibe to your space a few months early. Ahead, find a few options to consider for setting the mood. The weather — unfortunately — might take a little longer.

Miranda Priestly famously deadpans in The Devil Wears Prada, "Florals for spring? Groundbreaking." And while the classic pattern can be considered cliché, it's a go-to for good reason. Florals totally invoke the season, and this pattern from IKEA is made a little more dainty and abstract than old-fashioned versions. Plus, in a blue palette, it feels fresh and not too predictable.

Gingham was a major trend for 2018 and, from the looks of the runway shows, it should be still popping up this spring. This set finds the classic pattern in a pretty pink shade, which also feels totally on-trend for the season.

This sunny set is right on-trend, according to Pantone, which predicted Aspen Gold to be one of the biggest colors come spring. The foremost source on the subject describes this shade as "brightening our day" and stimulating "feelings of joy and good cheer." Sounds about right for the season.

A touch of Living Coral, Pantone's Color of the Year for 2019, makes this bedding set feel very of-the-moment without being over the top. Besides the color, the floral/ginkgo leaf motif exemplifies the season's theme of growth.

According to Pantone, Pink Peacock is "tantalizingly theatrical" and "fans out to a feast for the eyes." Decidedly more vibrant than most traditional spring shades (think pastels), a bedding set in this trending color is a way to bring a renewed sense of energy and invigoration into your bedroom — which is something that comes in handy when you're trying to psych yourself up for that 7 a.m. hot yoga session, for example.
