Why Meghan Markle’s Polka Dot Dress Will Play A Major Role In Your Closet This Season

Unsurprisingly, week one of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's overseas tour has been a major source of style inspiration. And after a fashion-filled weekend, it's safe to say that week two has proved to be no exception. Case in point: Meghan Markle's polka dot dress, the latest piece she's worn on the 16-day excursion, is guaranteed to cheer up your fall (and winter) wardrobe in an instant.

Markle was photographed arriving on Australia's Fraser Island on Oct. 22, where she enjoyed a day of pampering and relaxation at the exclusive Kingfisher Bay resort, according to Daily Mail. Since Kensington Palace announced on Oct. 15 that she and Prince Harry were expecting their first child (news that came just one day after the couple set out on their official tour of Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, and Tonga), Markle has had very little downtime. Needless to say, Mon.'s relaxed itinerary seemed fitting.

For the occasion, the Duchess of Sussex donned a $129 red polka dot dress from & Other Stories, a very on-trend pick, seeing as the classic print is currently experiencing a renaissance. Markle's dress of choice features button-up detailing, a pointed collar, a cinched waistline, and a versatile waist tie that can be knotted in a number of different ways.

Markle kept the rest of her look simple, trading in her signature black pumps for a pair of brown Sarah Flint sandals — the second day in a row she's opted to deviate from her usual shoe of choice — and accessorizing with a dainty necklace and oversized black sunglasses. Her hair was pulled into the perfect ponytail, with a few loose strands subtly tucked behind her ears.

If you're searching for an easy way to liven up your wardrobe during the cold-weather months, look no further than a fun, polka dot dress. The piece has quickly become a staple in every fashion girl's wardrobe, with Markle being the latest proof that spots are back in a big way. What's more, a polka dot dress can be worn for just about any occasion, whether it's for a more casual outing (as was in Markle's case) or a holiday party — it all depends on how you style it.

Though Markle's exact & Other Stories polka dot dress is currently sold out, the market is currently flooded with similar pieces. Ahead, shop The Zoe Report's favorite polka dot dresses that are sure to play a major role in your closet this season.
