If there's one thing the fashion world loves, it's an update to a timeless classic. Alongside the recreation of chunky sneakers and athleisure joggers, the industry has witnessed a resurgence of suit separates. It's fitting, then, that Vanessa Hudgens has collaborated with Suistudio on a line of menswear-inspired suits, all of which combine traditional silhouettes with updated fabrics and prints.
Hudgens teamed up with Suistudio (a womenswear concept by Suit Supply) to bring her designs to life. The collection — which officially launched on Oct. 11 — offers a variety of separates, including trousers, waistcoats, blazers, and tops. Although each piece is inherently fresh, the line is reminiscent of silhouettes from the late '70s and early '80s.
There's something for everyone in Hudgens' collection. In addition to the perfect velvet pants (think: high-waisted, wide-legged, and cropped), favorites include a structured, houndstooth blazer and a rich, corduroy waistcoat. Bonus: If you're looking for an easy all-in-one look, the label also sells full three-piece suits and jumpsuits.
“In many ways, I feel as though I stepped into adulthood through wearing suits that gave me a sense of empowerment, maturity and femininity while also feeling so contemporary and cool at the same time,” Hudgens shared in a press release.
Suits of all kinds have resurfaced in the fashion world, with red carpets (remember Felicity Huffman's Emmys look?), street style, and even Kensington Palace as proof. After all, it's easy to cater this multifaceted look to your personal style. Wear a modern suit to work with a basic white tee, heeled booties, and a leather backpack. If you're looking to dress up for a date night or cocktail event, pair your suit with a lacy tank top, sky-high pumps, and a metallic clutch.
