Barbie's Malibu Dream House Is A Real Thing — And You Can Stay There

Whether or not you played with Barbies as a child, there's no denying what a huge part of American culture the dolls have been. At any age, a mere mention of the iconic, ever-evolving toy can instantly spark some majorly nostalgic feelings. And it's exactly those feels that arguably the biggest travel resource around is banking on with its latest offering: an Airbnb Barbie Dream House.

That's right, Barbie's fantastical pink palace has become a reality and you can actually stay there — but there is one catch. Much like Airbnb's other recent gift to fandom, an evening at the real Downton Abbey, it's only a one-time offer. Here's how it works: On October 23rd at 11 a.m. PST, you can try your hand at securing a two-night stay at the beachside villa. Only one person — and three of their most fortunate friends — will actually get to book the house for an unforgettable Malibu vacation from October 27th to the 29th.

And if the fact that you can stay in a childhood fantasy brought to life wasn't unbelievable enough — the price of it might be even more surprising. Whoever books the dream house will only pay $60 per night.

Airbnb

The rentable dream house is right in line with 2019's biggest travel trends: unique accommodations and experience-based trips. Along with an increase in the demand for adventure-focused rentals like treehouses or houseboats, Airbnb has also been seeing more interest in legitimately weird rentals, including the actual Oscar Meyer Weinermobile and the Goodyear Blimp. That said, Barbie's recreated Malibu home might offer you a bit more luxe accommodations than the aforementioned ones — in addition to the obvious nostalgic value.

Besides the dreamy beachside location, the house includes a hot tub (with all the pampering accoutrements), an infinity pool complete with a water slide, a walk-in closet filled with Barbie's wildest fashions come to life, an exercise court, a full kitchen, and pink decor and props around ever corner that make from some epic photo ops. There's also a feel-good factor for this attraction: A charitable donation on behalf of Airbnb. In celebration of the rental, the travel site will be offering funds to one of the charities involved in The Barbie Dream Gap Project, an organization that aims to close the gender gap with resources to support young girls and build self confidence. If a night in Barbie's pink paradise isn't reason enough to set your calendars to the morning of October 23rd, that seems like a pretty great one.
