The Fall Makeup Color That Looks Pretty On All Skin Tones

You know that warm, earthy, almost-red, almost-brown shade of lipstick that looks like autumn in a tube? It has a name — terracotta — and it’s not just for lips anymore. The terracotta makeup trend dominated the latest Fashion Month runways, making appearances at Cong Tri (with liner and lipstick), Brandon Maxwell and Chanel (with warm blush), Pyer Moss and Alberta Ferretti (via statement shadows), and Tommy Hilfiger (eyes, lips, cheeks, everywhere). And now, it’s about to dominate your makeup bag.

To get the look, make like makeup artist Hung Vanngo and add a terracotta eyeliner to your collection, STAT. “It adds intensity and makes your eye color pop,” he said in a press release to The Zoe Report. Bonus: The shade works with any eye color and on any skin tone, as evidenced by the diverse models who rocked Vanngo’s terracotta creations on the Cong Tri runway. Next, take inspiration from Bella Hadid’s look at Brandon Maxwell and swap out your usual peachy blush for the hue of the season. Brushed high on the cheekbones, it gives your face a “sunkissed” glow — no matter how long it’s been since your last beach day. Finally, turn your attention toward the other Hadid sister (Gigi, of course) at Ralph Lauren. With a barely-there terracotta lip, the model illustrates exactly how to take the trend from runway to real life.
