You'd be hard-pressed to find someone out there who doesn't have a favorite VMA moment. In addition to the iconic live bombshells that will forever go down in pop culture history (Beyoncé's pregnancy reveal mid-performance, Britney Spears and the python, any and all of Madonna's performances, etc.), there's the epic looks that can only be worn on the MTV Video Music Awards red carpet. And just when you thought the golden era of the outlandish musical extravaganza may have come and gone, 2019 happened. Yes, stars like Lizzo, the Hadid sisters, Queen Latifah, and more showed up to slay the VMA carpet and proved that its epic-ness is still going strong.

Just like the VMAs of yore, Mon. night's red carpet did not disappoint in the fashion department. Always known for some whimsical, edgy, and over-the-top ensembles (here's looking at you, Lil' Kim), the MTV bash is definitely the place to live out one's wildest fashion dreams — and this year was no different. While not exactly in their finest, celebrities definitely had some fun with fashion.

Gigi and Bella Hadid, for example, chose the event to pull the ultimate sister move and wore coordinating nude '90s-inspired ensembles that catered to their respective styles. Gigi went sleek with a tube top and satin high-waisted trousers while Bella opted for daring in a bandeau-pencil skirt co-ord with what looked like suspender detailing. While categorically different, the looks were equally chic and head-turning.

No offense to the Hadids, but no one shined quite like Lizzo, who is arguably the artist of the year. The singer/songwriter wore a custom Moschino gown and boa that did all the talking — it literally had "siren" written all over it. And while she could've stopped at the dress when it came to boldness, why would she? The star wore her hair in a sky-high bouffant style, lending an old-school retro vibe that was reminiscent of 1960s girl groups like The Supremes and The Chiffons. .

Ready for more? Good, because there's more where that came from. Ahead, take a look at the VMA looks that everyone will be talking about all week.
