When it comes to ball gowns it's likely that you fall into one of two camps: those who adore the dreamy, full-skirted frocks or those who prefer something a little more modern. That said, if you tend to associate with the latter, Naomi Watts' dress at the 2019 Emmys is going to have you rethinking your stance on the princess-style silhouette.

If you tuned into the 71st Primetime Emmy Awards you were able to see the award winning actress' show-stopping dress in action as it floated across the stage. A presenter at the event, Watts served up old Hollywood vibes with an edgy twist in a Christian Dior Fall 2019 Haute Couture creation that recently made its way down the runway in Paris. The black strapless bustier dress with a waist-cinching belt looked so effortless and fresh on Watts who paired it up with a sleek, asymmetrical blunt bob (further proving that this cropped hairstyle is one to consider for your fall look).

According to Watts' stylist, Jeanann Williams' Instagram, the head-turning dress was complimented with Harry Winston jewels, including a set of diamond sparklers that glistened from the actress' ears. However, it was the diamond necklace that sat high on Watts' collarbone and cascaded down her back that really made for an eye-catching red-carpet moment.

And while there's no doubt pink and red color combinations were trending, Watts went a different route, leaving the pop of color to just her pout with a punchy, orangey-red lip color. A popular shade for this year's awards ceremony, the coral lip look was especially stunning on Watts, and felt like the perfect final touch to pull the entire look together.

Forever one to watch on the red carpet, Watts continues to make the best-dressed lists year after year. And, if this elegant ensemble is any indication of what's to come from Watts for the 2019 awards seasons, it looks like she and her styling team aren't slowing down anytime soon. So, while the Emmys may have now come and gone, the red carpet fashion is just beginning, and hopefully this year's awards season will bring more couture runway-to-red carpet moments like this one.
