It's been a while since Meghan Markle has stepped out for an outing. In fact, she hasn't had any official work duty sightings since welcoming baby Archie into the world back in May — but that all changed on Thurs., when the royal headed out for her first official post-maternity leave event in celebration of her Smart Works capsule collection launch. Get excited, because Markle's latest outfit — which makes desk-to-dinner style look incredibly easy — included two key pieces from her new work-perfect range, and they're still available to shop, for now, at least.
Markle may have been on maternity leave, but she was still working on some major things whilst out of the spotlight. The royal-turned-editor-turned-designer was busy creating her very own collection of workwear in partnership with Marks & Spencer, among other brands, that benefits her patronage, Smart Works — and as of Thurs., said line of sure-to-sell-out office staples is finally available.
No, there wasn't a fashion show to debut Markle's new clothing line, but the duchess did step out for its unveiling (and also gave a brief speech) on Sept. 12 in London — and as you'd expect, she was wearing two pieces from the collection, both of which are still in stock.
Markle looked the epitome of business-chic for her first official work outing, stepping out for the launch in a white button-down blouse by Misha Nonoo and a pair of slim-fit black trousers from Jigsaw.
The ever-stylish royal accessorized the classic work combo with brown Manolo Blahnik pumps and a coordinating brown leather belt by Ralph Lauren, but the most touching facet of her Sept. 12 look came in the form of her jewelry.
According to People, Markle paid tribute to Princess Diana by wearing two pieces from her late mother-in-law's collection: a pair of butterfly earrings Lady Di wore during a trip to Canada on May 3, 1986 and a cuff bracelet that features diamonds and blue stones that Princess Diana donned in 1990.
Take Markle's office-perfect look out for dinner with a few simple styling switch-ups. Leave the base pieces the same, and throw on a cool leather jacket, some oversized hoops, and a swipe of red lipstick, and you're ready for a night on the town.
