Meghan Markle Just Wore The Beauty Trend We All Loved In 2001

If you haven't already heard, the duchess had a rare glam moment on Weds. evening. Her and Prince Harry's date night at the Royal Albert Hall warranted arguably one of her prettiest (and most surprising) looks yet. Meghan Markle's berry lip gloss was as unexpected as that dazzling sequin gown everyone's talking about.

The duchess' busy day started with a visit to the Mayhew, an animal rescue organization in London that she chose as one of her four patronages. After cuddling puppies all morning, she changed into something a little more formal for the premiere of Totem by Cirque du Soleil.

Markle's outfit was about as eye-catching as the acrobatics on stage. She sported a full-length sequin gown by Roland Mouret. The navy-blue number featured a wide scoop neck, three-quarter length sleeves, and a knee-high slit that showed off dark nail polish on her toes.

The super-glamorous outfit wasn't her usual look, and neither was her makeup. While the duchess sported a polished version of her classic low bun and her everyday bronzed cheeks, she kicked it up a notch with the boldest lip gloss.

Markle's pink pout was reminiscent of the cherry lip gloss you wore in junior high. What says "early aughts" more than Destiny's Child and pink lip gloss, after all? If the so-called "Meghan Markle Effect" proves to be true, this berry hue will be the most coveted lip color of the season.

The duchess typically opts for a neutral lip (she seems to have nude and light-pink colors in abundance). The last time she even sported a bold red lip was back in her Suits days. If you sift through the red-carpet photos of Markle's bygone acting days, you'll notice countless red lipsticks, in fact.

But times have changed. Since marrying into the royal family, the mom-to-be is careful not to go too bold with her makeup. It's understandable, however, how she simply couldn't pass up this pink lip gloss.

If you can't pass it up either, try it out for yourself with The Zoe Report's favorite lip glosses, ahead.
