Kris Jenner’s 2019 Met Gala Look Was A Bold Change Of Pace For The Momager

This year's Met Gala attendees pulled out all the stops for the annual fashion event, churning out one head-turning getup after the other (looking at you, Lady Gaga). But there was one celeb in particular that will certainly make you do a double take, considering she looked truly unrecognizable. Yep, Kris Jenner showed up to the 2019 Met Gala as a blonde — and as it turns out, the drastic transformation was all Kylie Jenner's idea.

This year's camp-themed event was all about stepping outside of one's comfort zone in terms of fashion and beauty — pink frocks and colorful shadows were front and center at the annual gathering on Mon. evening. Of those who nailed this over-the-top, out-of-the-box approach was iconic momager, Jenner, who used the 2019 Met Gala to debut an exceptionally striking look.

Jenner is known to keep it quite classic and understated when it comes to her outfits and makeup, and her haircut has been a brown pixie for years (though it's important to mention that she did sport a bob back in Feb). Like many of the attendees, Jenner took the first Monday in May to really play with her look — and she definitely didn't disappointment.

Jenner descended upon the pink Met steps on Mon. evening wearing a navy-blue, wide-leg jumpsuit (complete with a plunging neckline and a glitzy star brooch) and a über-voluminous tulle jacket, both of which were custom-made Tommy Hilfiger.

As for Jenner's inspiration for the evening? “I’m channeling David Bowie going to the opera,” she shared with Vogue during a red carpet interview.

Bold outfit aside, Jenner's beauty approach was quite a change of pace from her usual, too, considering she prefers a more understated routine. A dark-blue smoky eye, a super-glossy pout, and last but certainly not least, a light-blonde wig rounded out the 63-year-old's Met Gala look perfectly.

As it turns out, the hair switch-up (which may have been the most drastic of the evening) was actually Kylie Jenner's idea — and it was fairly last minute, too.

“A couple of hours ago Kylie [Jenner] decided that I should be blonde," she shared with E!. "‘Mom, there’s no black hair tonight. You should be blonde,’" she said, quoting the 21-year-old, who's known to have quite an impressive wig collection herself.

The iconic momager upped the glam with a handful of can't-miss accessories, including a sparkly clutch, oversized chandelier earrings, and a huge diamond bauble. Though it's uncertain if Jenner will wear the wig post Met Gala, it certainly was fun to see her as a blonde for the night.
