Gingham is no longer a trend reserved for sunny picnics and warm-weather beach days. As evident in celebrity street style, the quintessential print is here to stay through the colder months. Exhibit A: Chrissy Teigen's gingham skirt joined forces with a powerful, red top to create the easiest outfit formula you'll find all season long.

Teigen was photographed in New York City on Oct. 13 wearing the ultimate fall-clothing combo. Teigen has spent the past few days promoting her second cook book, Cravings: Hungry For More. The mother of two donned a unique twist on a classic silhouette by wearing an asymmetrical, high-waisted gingham pencil skirt with a subtle slit in the front. She paired the piece with an unbuttoned red blouse that she wore tied up in the front.

The outfit was the perfect example of Teigen's go-to style: She isn't afraid to experiment with bold prints and bright colors, but she usually opts for timeless silhouettes.

Teigen added thin-strapped, open-toe pumps to complete the fun-yet-sophisticated ensemble. The 32-year-old recently ditched her classic bob hairstyle for a longer, wavier look. She pinned back a few strands of curled hair, and let her side-swept bangs frame her notoriously glowy skin.

Teigen's effortless demonstration proves that this combination could very well turn in to your newest fall uniform. By merging two subtle statements, a classic print and a bold hue, Teigen created a unique-but-timeless look. Even if ruffled skirts aren't your cup of tea, or you tend to steer clear of low-cut button-downs, you can still experiment with this outfit formula in your own way. Try flowy, gingham pants and a turtleneck sweater, or pair a punchy, red tank top with a classic pencil skirt.
