5 Easy Summer Beauty Looks To Try, Straight From The Runway

Whenever I have a little bit of downtime, I find myself aimlessly scrolling through my camera roll, all the way up to February. Not just because my birthday was on the 16th of that month... but because I actually sort of miss fashion month. I miss the palpable excitement of being backstage before a show, and the anticipation of seeing the hair, makeup, and nail creations done by the best of the business. But I've got resort week and a ton of pre-fall presentations to tide me over... and in return, a new crop of summer 2019 beauty looks to try.

Yes, you might not think that a presentation that involves, say, a tweed skirt suit or woolen separates would be the breeding ground for fun-in-the-sun makeup looks. But the healthy, glowy highlight seen at Alexander Wang would be an ideal accompaniment to easy, everyday no makeup-makeup look. And imagine the pastel eyeshadow, as seen at Lorod, paired with a gauzy top and floaty skirt. Dreamy, right? The world still has a few more months until the Spring/Summer 2020 shows... but if you're starved for the runway glamour like I am, then the looks ahead should tide you over until then.

Pastel Lids

At Lorod, the makeup (done by Marcelo Gutierrez) differed from model to model... but most wore gorgeously creamy matte tones in variations of blue and white on the lids. You could even pull a Rihanna (circa summer 2018) and rock liquid liner — she happens to have a limited-edition set that does the job perfectly.

Rosebud Cheeks

Pat McGrath's artists gave models a pretty flush of color at Louis Vuitton Resort 2020, swirling Rose Risqué from the Pat McGrath Labs La Vie En Rose palette on the apples of the cheeks and all the way up the brow bone for “bold and edgy displays of color,” according to Vogue.

Top And Bottom Lashes

"The Pucci woman exudes a natural, sophisticated lust for life," according to the brand's Instagram, and the latest collection is inspired by Paul Gauguin’s "primitive sensual art." Such exotic prints deserve standout lashes, so try wiggling your brush on the top and volume for impact.

Red Lip

OK, OK... a red lip is appropriate for any time of the year, not just for the summer. And Forbidden Love, McGrath's "ultimate classic red matte" as seen at Vuitton, would look just as good with a sundress as it would with a sweater later on in the year.

Glowy — Not Gleaming — Highlight

“This show was an ode to American sportswear and a look at the future," Diane Kendal, who keyed the makeup for Alexander Wang's 2020 Collection, said in a release. "We kept the skin beautiful with glowy cheeks and lips using different shades and textures of NARS Orgasm.” Yep, you read right: the universally-flattering blush isn't just for your cheeks. NARS expanded the range to include a the Orgasm Liquid Highlighter, Endless Orgasm Palette, Orgasm Liquid Blush, and an Orgasm Oil-Infused Lip Tint — all used for the show.
