10 Spring 2019 Nail Polish Colors TZR Editors Are Obsessing Over This Season

Share

Spring often brings to mind soft, sweet shades like pretty pastels, but sometimes it's fun to break out of that mold and try something unexpected. And when it comes to spring nail colors, that especially holds true. While you may not always be as open to experimenting with color in your outfits (though kudos to you if you are), choosing a daring or unusual polish shade is a little bit easier to tackle than, say, wearing a lime green dress. And judging by some of the nail colors they're obsessing over this season, it's probably safe to say The Zoe Report editors agree.

Case in point: the olive green shade Ruby Buddemeyer, TZR's Associate Celebrity Editor, can't get enough of, which is far from the baby blues and light pinks typically associated with spring. Managing Editor Lauren Caruso and Social Media Editor Aidan Macaluso are going in a decidedly different direction for the season, but it feels just as unexpected. Their choice? An ultra-bright orange shade.

And while some members of the team are opting for slightly more typical colors, they're still going for hues that have a twist, like the light blue nail color with a touch of glitter that Senior West Coast Editor Angela Melero is loving, and the almost-golden yellow that Senior Fashion Editor Aemilia Madden cites as a current fave.

Fancy Patent Shine 10x Nail Lacquer

$18

Butter London

"At the beginning of the year, I promised myself to step outside of the box with my nail polish choices. I always tend to choose the same pink shades, because I like the idea of wearing my favorite color every day. And while Butter’s new Patent Shine 10X Nail Lacquer in Fancy, a creamy lilac, wasn’t too much of a departure from my go-to hues, it was nice to try something different. Maybe I’ll venture over to the blues and greens of the world as the season progresses…" — Khalea Underwood, Beauty Editor

Zoya Nail Polish in Thandie

$10

Zoya

"Orange hues always make me think of springtime, and I've been loving this bold tangerine shade by Zoya!" — Aidan Macaluso, Social Media Editor

Nail Lacquer in Grandma Kissed A Gaucho

$10.50

OPI

"This muted shade of purple is perfect for anyone that wants to experiment with color (but doesn't want to go full neon)." — Aidan Macaluso, Social Media Editor

J. Hannah Eames Nail Polish

$19

Need Supply

"I'm truly obsessed with all of J.Hannah's polishes, but the muted green hue Eames is a perennial favorite." — Lauren Caruso, Managing Editor

JINSOON Nail Polish

$18

Barneys

"This bright orange from Jin Soon is outside my usual neutral palette, but it's a perfect pick-me-up for spring." — Lauren Caruso, Managing Editor

Relic

$19

J.Hannah

"I'm a fan of something subtle but celebratory since cold weather is finally coming to an end. This fruity shade is a current fave." — Aemilia Madden, Senior Fashion Editor

Nail Polish in Bitter Buddhist

$18

Smith & Cult

"I've been seeing this color *everywhere* this season — in clothes, in accessories, and now, it's (thankfully) popping up in makeup, too. I feel like it's the perfect alternative if you like the lime green trend but don't really wear bright colors, and its pastel-like shade is also right in line with spring." — Anna Buckman, Shopping News Editor

Oribe The Lacquer High Shine Nail Polish - Green Envy

$32

Net-A-Porter

"I basically wear black nail polish year-round, but when the weather picks up I’m usually tempted to switch things up. This olive-green shade from Oribe is neutral enough that it doesn’t feel like a major departure from black." — Ruby Buddemeyer, Associate Celebrity Editor

ORLY Nail Lacquer in Put The Top Down

$9.50

Ulta

"I recently had the opportunity to test out ORLY's experiential space, Color Lab, where I got the chance to create my own color. I got to pick everything from the shade's undertones to its finish (I even named my polish!) — and I watched it get mixed and bottled. I ended up creating a flamingo pink hue that felt light, bright, and quintessentially spring. Because I'm pretty sure I'll be going through my custom-made shade in no time, this hot pink hue from the label will serve as a worthy substitute, so you know I'll be stocking up!" — Angela Melero, Senior West Coast Editor

Nail Lacquer in Butterfly Me To The Moon

$10.50

OPI

"I will always gravitate toward glittery polishes. They are the perfect multitaskers in that they work great on their own or make for a sparkly topcoat for a solid, more muted polish. This whimsy blue glitter is my current obsession!" — Angela Melero, Senior West Coast Editor
