On Sun. evening, awards season officially commenced with the 76th annual Golden Globes at the Beverly Hilton hotel in Los Angeles. As the first major event of the new year, you can bet nearly everyone tuned in to watch Hollywood's finest walk the red carpet. And while the gowns were just as eye-catching as anticipated, it was hard to miss the stunning nail polishes at the 2019 Golden Globes red carpet.
Sure, Dakota Fanning's bright-red cherry lipstick moment was a definite standout during Sun.'s event, and Camilla Belle's smoky green shadow is bound to convince you to swap your neutral palette for a poppier one. But one peek at the manicures of practically every starlet, and you'll see just how powerful a swipe of polish can be in rounding out a glamorous red carpet look.
Take, for example, Emma Stone's simple, nude nails, a color that perfectly complemented — and was perhaps inspired by — her silver-beaded Louis Vuitton dress. Had her manicurist opted for a bright-red shade instead, her entire look would have had a totally different feel. Similarly, Debra Messing's super-glitzy, diamond-embellished nails drew inspiration from her silver-and-black sequin-adorned gown.
Ahead, The Zoe Report breaks down all the best nail polishes from the 2019 Golden Globes, from classic to daring picks. Shop the exact shades worn by Emma Stone, Danai Gurira, and more, ahead.
Emma Stone
Emma Stone is known to stick to a tried-and-true nude polish for her red carpet outings, and Sun. evening's ceremony proved no different. Her manicurist, Emi Kudo, opted for a long-lasting, nude formula from Essie. Bonus: It's just $12.
Jessica Chastain
Jessica Chastain's manicurist, Christina Aviles, picked Chanel Le Vernis in Gris Obscur, a color she says was the "perfect deep shade without being too dark." Another great polish-and-dress combo, no?
Danai Gurira
All eyes were on Blank Panther actor Danai Gurira, who walked the red carpet in a fiery, sequin-embellished Rodarte gown. To complement the colors in her dress, celebrity manicurist Tracyless Percival went with a burgundy polish by OPI.
Rachel Weisz
Rachel Weisz's manicurist focused on elongating the actor’s hand with a nude nail. She achieved this by using LeChat's"Wear Cocoa Kisses", a deep hazel chai with a cream finish, and one coat of "Innocence."
Rosamund Pike
Rosamund Pike's gown-and-jacket combo was already striking, so her manicurist, Betina Goldstein, opted for a subtle, baby-pink shade on her nails.
Debra Messing
Debra Messing's nails were perhaps the most glitzy (and elaborate) of the evening. Her manicurist started with LeChat's "Knights Honor", a gunmetal frost shade, topping it off with "Spectra Stellar Stars", a silver holographic glitter. But that's not all — each of her fingers were also adorned with a real Vero Krew diamond.
