Move over PVC and bike shorts; feathers are the next big thing. These fluffy plumes seem to be popping up everywhere you look lately — from the skirt of Priyanka Chopra's bridal shower gown to the trim of Katie Holmes' pantsuit. And there's perhaps no subtler way to introduce the bold trend to your wardrobe than with a pair of Nicole Kidman's black feather heels.
The actor looked as elegant as ever as she promoted two new films, Destroyer and Aquaman, on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Tues. Kidman strutted onto the set in a form-fitting LBD from Jason Wu's Spring 2019 collection. The short-sleeved midi is pleated at the waist on one side and features floral embellishments on each shoulder.
It was her feathery footwear, however, that really set the look. The 51-year-old accessorized with black strappy Roger Vivier stilettos accentuated with a floppy feather and jewel embellishments on the toe. The velour clutch she carried was made by the French shoe designer (one of her favorites), too.
Feathers have been making a comeback this season in the biggest way. Just-married Priyanka Chopra, for instance, sported all-feather-everything leading up to her wedding. Then, there's the navy feather-clad gown Penélope Cruz just wore on the red carpet, not to mention the ensemble Naomi Campbell wore to Princess Eugenie's wedding in Oct.
This textured trend is about to take the fashion industry by storm. Marc Jacobs, Prabal Gurung, and Oscar de la Renta, among others, worked them into their Spring 2019 looks at New York Fashion Week, where models floated down the runway in gowns that looked like clouds of colorful, flowy feathers.
But you don't have to go that bold. The Aussie actor's subtle heels are the perfect place to start. There's hardly a more festive shoe to pair with your New Year's Eve LBD, anyway. Ahead, The Zoe Report's favorite feather-adorned accessories that your wardrobe needs immediately.
