'Tis the season for holiday parties. Yup, it's officially that wonderful time of year when you bring your style A game to the family gatherings, office parties, and seasonal soirees you've got on your calendar. And though formal events are usually associated with silky dresses and sky-high stilettos, Nicole Kidman's sparkly flats prove you may not need to sacrifice comfort for style when channeling your own red carpet moment this year.

On Weds., Dec. 5, the actor attended the 2018 Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts in Sydney, hitting the red carpet in a whimsical, sequin-embroidered Valentino Spring 2019 dress that just brushed the ground. From embroidered butterflies to flowers and swans, the gown has a ton of detailing to take in, so you might not even notice the actor's unique footwear choice initially.

If you take a closer look, you'll see a glittery, pointed toe emerging from beneath the Valentino — a sparkling, unconventional choice that might have you ready to ditch your heels (at least temporarily). The 51-year-old star accepted her AACTA Award for her supporting role in Boy Erased wearing Louboutin’s Nosy t-strap flats, complete with a sparkly silver toe. The surprising accessory even features a subtle nod to the PVC trend, as well.

Some style rulebooks might claim you have to choose between statement dress or striking shoes, but Kidman obviously isn't obliging to such sartorial constraints. Despite the eye-catching gown's sequin embroidery, Kidman opted for even more drama in the footwear department with these metallic ballet flats. A sparkly high heel may have read over-the-top, but the actor's Louboutins brought just the right amount of glamour and charm (while managing to offset the lavish Valentino ensemble).

Thanks to Kidman, you might be starting to rethink your footwear options for your next evening engagement — and with good reason. Leaving a night-long bash sans blisters sounds heavenly, so why not reach for an elevated flat the next time around? Ahead, The Zoe Report rounded up some seriously elegant and comfortable options to choose from, so you can spend more time on the dance floor.
