Meghan Markle’s Polka Dot Heels Are A Chic & Subtle Approach To Retro Prints

Share

Known for her love of pushing the envelope when it comes to royal style, the Duchess of Sussex always manages to include a subtle touch of modernism within a classic look. Case in point: Meghan Markle wore polka dot heels in Morocco on Mon. afternoon, and they were so subdued, you might have thought they were solid black at first glance. If you've been hesitant to try out the bold, retro-inspired print yourself, the duchess may have found your solution.

Markle was photographed arm-in-arm with Prince Harry while the couple visited the Andalusian Gardens in Rabat, Morocco on Feb. 25. She carried herself with a glow that only a mom-to-be could possess, topped off with the perfect, polished outfit. The 37-year-old paired her pleated black mini dress by Loyd/Ford underneath a white, collarless blazer from Aritzia (one of the duchess' favorite affordable brands).

She made the professional-looking ensemble a bit more playful by adding a pair of pointed slingbacks by Manolo Blahnik. The delicate heels are cut in a dreamy satin material, which is speckled with soft, velvet polka dots. They may seem like your average pumps from a distance, but upon closer look, you'll see they're actually quite intricate.

This wasn't Markle's first stab at styling these shoes on her royal tour of Morocco. In fact, she wore them in a more casual setting on Sun. with black trousers, a bold, blue blazer, and a chiffon top by Aritzia. Although she was seen wearing flats earlier that day, swapping them out for the subtle slingbacks made all the difference in dressing up the look.

A pair of printed heels is a worthy investment, even if your style veers towards all things minimalistic. Make like Markle and elevate a muted combination of black and white with a soft pattern, or go all out by wearing them with dark-wash jeans and a tiger-print sweater.

A polka dot accessory may seem like a daring choice, but opting for a subtle take on the trend like Markle makes it all the more sophisticated. Add a little spunk to your office attire, variety to your little black dress, or some much-needed elegance to a white t-shirt.
