What's a duchess to pack for a very important (and unavoidably public) girls' trip in New York City? She certainly wouldn't have left the palace without her favorite cold-weather staple in tow. Meghan Markle's navy coat was probably the first thing to go in her suitcase.

The royal returned to her home country on Fri. for a bit of quality girl time. After reuniting with her stylist, Jessica Mulroney, over macarons at a French bakery and meeting former Suits costar Abigail Spencer for lunch and a stroll through the Met Breuer, Markle's closest friends spoiled her during a private baby shower at The Mark Hotel in the Upper East Side, where she's been staying.

She finally braved the paparazzi on Tues. wearing a vintage A-line, button-front coat with short sleeves over her favorite Hatch Maternity black jeans. Then, after the baby shower, she was seen in the same skinnies out with longtime friend Serena Williams, who was reportedly in attendance at the shower, too.

The two were joined by other pals at Ralph Lauren's restaurant, The Polo Bar, on Tues. evening. For the occasion, Markle swapped her vintage for a warmer coat — and one she clearly can't get enough of.

You might recognize this navy Victoria Beckham coat from Markle's monochromatic Christmas Day outfit. This time, she ditched the dress and paired the double-breasted layer over her go-to pants and slouchy black Tamara Mellon boots, accessorizing with a black scarf and a Stella McCartney purse.

The duchess is clearly obsessed with her menswear-inspired coat, seeing as she's worn it out twice now, on two momentous occasions. The casual number couldn't have been more fitting for her evening out in New York, though.
