Kate Middleton has been branching out more than ever lately, trying out the combat boot trend, sporting a surprising amount of sparkle, and even bold one-shoulder silhouettes. However, the duchess just had what you might call one of her most unpredictable style moments yet. Kate Middleton's wide-leg pants yielded a rare trouser moment for the royal.
The Henry Fawcett Children's Centre in Kennington, London, got a visit from the duchess on Tues. There, she learned about how LEAP (a parenting program) is "using the Parent and Infant Relationship Service (PAIRS) to support parents, carers and their children," Kensington Palace said via Twitter. Middleton wore her most down-to-business ensemble for the occasion, too.
She stepped out of her town car in a rather unexpected outfit consisting of a purple pussy-bow blouse tucked into black wide-leg trousers. Now, as you already know, the duchess has just about delegated her pants collection to playing sports and other outdoor events, typically opting for one of her classic A-line dresses for appearances like this
This time, though, she attended her meeting in smart separates, looking like the bonafide boss she is. And better yet, the trend-forward bottoms she wore are surprisingly affordable.
Her sleek lavender blouse, by Gucci, features slightly puffed sleeves and an extra-large bow around the neckline. Middleton balanced out the über-feminine (and pricey) piece with a pair of super-affordable slouchy black trousers. The wide-leg bottoms are by Jigsaw and they only cost $170.
Or they did, rather, considering the pants sold out immediately after she wore them the first time (to no one's surprise). Middleton also sported the pants with a green blazer when she and Prince William threw a holiday party for the Royal Air Force service members in Cyprus in Dec.
Luckily, wide-leg trousers are sort of Jigsaw's M.O., so there are plenty of similar, budget-friendly pairs to choose from to help you get the duchess' look. Ahead, Middleton's outfit and a few pieces to recreate it.
