In case you need an extra push to work up the courage to go for a chop this season, allow Julianne Hough's blunt bob to lead the way. The actor debuted the fresh cut courtesy of hairstylist Riawna Capri at the Billboard Music Awards on Weds., with her wavy, platinum blonde locks falling just below the chin. Coinciding with a metallic three-piece set and bedazzled mesh pumps, Hough's icy chop upped the ante for one of the biggest nights in music.
Prior to presenting the award for Top Country Song, the America's Got Talent judge walked the red carpet, stealing a shot with K-pop sensation BTS, and showing off the choppy spring update. The 30-year-old flashed serious bling thanks to a pair of diamond earrings which matched her shimmery silver ensemble, with one side of her hair tucked behind her ear.
"It’s blunt, thick, and 180 degrees across. She wanted to grow it out, but that awkward stage and funky flip on the shoulders got the best of her!" Capri revealed in a press release about the spontaneous chop. Hough seemed pleased with the outcome and thrilled to be in attendance, despite a minor mishap during Paula Abdul's performance, when Abdul's fedora hat went flying into the audience and straight at Hough. All's well that ends well!
The Burlesque star isn't the only one in Hollywood to opt for a hair switch-up this week. A few days ago, Anne Hathaway went the '70s route with a choppy shag haircut, while Brie Larson debuted a short, breezy bob on Tues. With sunny days ahead, spring is the optimal time for a refresh in the beauty department, so whether you're in the mood for a full-on platinum moment or are just trying to shed a few inches, now's the time to phone the salon.
Capri continued posting Hough's post-chop moments on Instagram Stories on Thurs., showcasing the severe cut prior to styling — which still looks amazing as-is.
