New patterns are emerging on the celeb street-style scene faster than you can probably keep up with. There's Chrissy Teigen's Dalmatian one-piece swimsuit, which made quite the splash in the swimwear world when it debuted on her Instagram. Kendall Jenner's cow-print nails paved the way for a Western-inspired manicure that certainly isn't for the faint of heart, and the fruit motif proved the sweetest (and most unexpected) of all to appear in 2019. But, regardless of the fresh patterns popping up practically nonstop, there are certain tried-and-true ones that will never go out of style. Nautical stripes and color-block-anything, just like Jennifer Garner's dress, are forever prints that you can always fall back on.

Considering the classic nature of Garner's style, it should come as no surprise that she's not typically one to experiment with the latest and greatest fashion crazes to make their way down the runways. She loves her sleek black leggings, comfy sweaters, and everyday jeans just as much as you. And she just found another must-have essential you'll definitely want to add to your lineup this summer: a color-blocked midi dress that will always feel relevant, even with the ever-changing trends.

Garner was photographed leaving a church service on July 21 in the perfect Sunday outfit. The actor looked utterly elegant in a navy mid-length frock that features frilled sleeves, a fitted waist, airy side slits, and a navy-and-black color-block pattern that you might have missed at first — it was quite subtle, after all.

In typical Garner fashion, her accessories were as timeless as the hero piece was. She topped off her Sunday attire with navy-blue, block-heeled sandals by Lanvin, a black tote bag, and black sunglasses. A wrist watch and a silver necklace added the perfect amount of metallic shine.

If you feel like 2019's biggest print trends are a tad bit outside of your wheelhouse, don't fret. Simply make like Garner and reach for a pattern that's not quite as intimidating to wear as say, cow-print is.
