Sometimes a girl just wants to go out in a sweatsuit, and these days, that's a perfectly acceptable thing to do. Especially when you add a denim jacket to the mix like Hilary Duff just did. This actor's secret weapon for wearing loungewear out could be already hanging in your closet.

Duff is like a superhero in real life, constantly bouncing between the Younger set and baby birthday parties, all the while still managing to squeeze in the occasional hike with now-fiancé Matthew Koma. It's no wonder she's gotten so good at turning her pajamas into actual daytime-ready outfits.

The former Lizzie McGuire actor sure does have a way of making comfortable look chic and she proved her talents yet again on Tues. Duff was spotted getting lunch in her Studio City neighborhood in Los Angeles wearing a lightweight heather-gray sweatsuit and chunky sneakers by Chloé with a pop of coral.

What really made the look a certified off-duty outfit rather than just a pair of PJs, though, was Duff's oversized jean jacket. Every girl needs one of these versatile layers in her arsenal. The actor's is a slightly baggy and super distressed version by the cult-classic denim label R13.

To make the cotton and denim combo even cooler, she wore a pair of retro, peach-colored sunglasses by Karen Walker. Duff's tousled waves adhered to the lazy-day look and her new curtain bangs were styled to the side.

Who knew a denim jacket could singlehandedly turn your house pants into a fashion statement? The actor's outfit is evidence that all you need is one of these wear-anywhere wardrobe staples to throw over your sweats before you embark on your regular Sat. morning Whole Foods run. A pair of those trendy platform tennis shoes wouldn't hurt either, of course.

Upgrade your denim jacket now for the next time a hurried weekend errand calls for it. Some of The Zoe Report's favorites, ahead.
