How goop’s New G.Tox Skincare Duo Works To Give You Softer, Clearer Skin

goop

It seems like each passing day brings on a new, eye-catching skincare ingredient. However, goop may have just won a prize for releasing the most innovative one yet. Unveiled April 28, goop's G.Tox Malachite + AHA Pore Refining Tonic and Malachite + Fruit Acid Pore Purifying Cleanser aren't just themed around the green gemstone. The two new products actually are formulated with malachite extract.

Surprisingly, goop claims the stone has some major skin-boosting benefits. The brand broke down a little bit of the lore — and science — behind using malachite on its social media: "The blue-green malachite crystal has long been prized for its ability to detoxify. In ancient Egypt, it was used in crystal healing practices to clear the chakras, renew energy, and set the stage for positive change," the brand wrote on the official @goop Instagram page. "But beyond its mystical cleansing properties, malachite is the ultimate ingredient for detoxing, freshening, and purifying skin."

In the descriptions for the new skincare products, goop lists that the malachite extract cleanses pores and readily helps protect skin against "environmental aggressors" — which includes skin-irritating pollution, as noted on another goop page. The brand also pointed out the number-one reason why it went with malachite: It's rich in copper, an unexpected skincare hero.

And the new products also wield skincare ingredients you may already know (and love). Similar to the recently-released GOOPGLOW glycolic acid peel, the G.Tox tonic has a powerful concentration of ingredients: It contains a 15 percent blend of glycolic, phytic, and fruit acids. While you may have dabbled in glycolic and fruit acid products before, phytic acid is another one to keep your eye on if you have sensitive skin or are looking to minimize acne scarring; it can be easier on your skin than other AHAs, while still clearing and smoothing from the inside out.

Additionally, the new tonic is formulated with hydrolyzed hyaluronic acid — a cult-favorite skincare ingredient that can dramatically plump skin up with moisture (which, in turn, helps your face stay hydrated and soft). But before you ask, there isn't a special technique to applying the G.Tox tonic; or really, anything complicated about it at all. All you have to do is dab a few droplets onto a cotton pad and swipe it over your skin. The tonic's powerhouse ingredients do the rest of the work for you.

And you may want to pick up the G.Tox Malachite + Fruit Acid Pore Purifying Cleanser, too, if you're looking for an easy new skincare routine. The two new goop products complement one another; the only thing missing is your favorite moisturizer. So keep scrolling down — the all-new G.Tox duo is ahead.
