ColourPop's Lunar New Year collection is a playful, celebratory packaging of beauty essentials.

According to the Chinese Lunar Calendar, 2020 is the year of the rat. The more squeamish amongst us may not feel too warm and fuzzy about the shadow-dwelling rodent being this year's official mascot — but there's something to thank the rat for this time around: ColourPop's Lunar New Year collection. Start the year off on a bright, optimistic note with these new essentials, inspired by Chinese astrology.

Technically, the new year doesn't actually start until Jan. 25 per the Chinese calendar, but ColourPop is ready to help you get a head start thanks to its freshly dropped Lunar New Year collection. And just like the rat, which is a symbol of optimism and energy, the new launch is ready to reenergize your beauty routine for your best year yet with a lively curation of makeup and skincare essentials.

Now up for grabs on ColourPop's website, the Lunar New Year collection comprises three product drops — which is a comparatively pared-down launch when you consider past collections that often include several items (remember last fall's drop, which included an eyeshadow palette, lipsticks, eyeliners, blush, and more). But it's still giving you everything you need to look fresh-faced in 2020.

The Good Fortune Lip Bundle, $20, brings three new colors of ColourPop's Lux Velvet liquid lipstick in bold shades of red. Take A Bao is a velvety rich true red, It's A Banger is a midtone crimson, and On Cloud Dynasty is a warm brick red — and all three melt seamlessly into lips for a soft, blurred effect. Prefer one shade over the others? Lucky for you all three are up for grabs at $8 each, too.

Light up your face with the Lucky You Cheek Kit, $14, which comes with two Super Shock cheek products in a new, limited-edition blush-highlighter duo. Drop Of A Hat is the brand's bestselling pearly peach shade with gold chromatic shimmer (a buildable color for day or night), and Goody Two Shǔ is a champagne gold highlight great for amping up your look.

The collection also introduces White Tea Face Milk, $14, from ColourPop's Fourth Ray Beauty skin care range, which is formulated with White Tea, Rice Milk, and hyaluronic acid for lightweight hydration that'll soften and brighten skin. Think of it as a quick drink for your skin ahead of a moisturizer and the rest of your beauty routine, similar to a hydration-rich serum.
