Some of 2019's beauty trends can feel a tad tricky, even to those who regularly depart from neutral eyeshadow and black mascara. And no, this isn't limited strictly to expertly winged neon eyeliner. Even the subtlest, retro styles — such as Cara Delevingne's white eyeshadow, spotted at the second annual Girl Up #GirlHero Awards on Oct. 13 — can seem daunting. No matter how you wear it, the bright, white nostalgic trend (which has also been worn by Lily-Rose Depp, Cardi B, and Dascha Polanco, just to name a few) is seriously eye catching. Which means it may be the exact opposite of your more subdued, everyday shadow look.

Then again, in true Delevingne style, the model and actor showed exactly how to nail pulling off one of 2019's new favorite eyeshadow shades. The trick in question? Lean into its wow factor by adding in a dose of metallic. Alongside fellow event honorees Kate Hudson and Jameela Jamil, Delevingne walked the event's red carpet with a look all her own; an opaque, glitzy white shade dominated her lids, sparkling at her inner corners and fading into a graphic bronze wing on the other side.

The glimmering shade clung close to Delevingne's lid, leaving plenty of space for her famous brows. The rest of the makeup look was kept simple: Delevingne's hair was worn half-pinned up and back, with a touch of rosy blush and a pink lip rounding out the party.

This doesn't mean her entire look was subdued, though. The star balanced out her retro beauty with a bold Guy Laroche denim jumpsuit adorned with contrast stitching — proving once again that, yes, the emerging cutout trend is one to watch throughout late 2019 and early 2020. And in case that wasn't enough, the model and actor went ahead and paired her white eyeshadow with blanc pointed heels (a move fans will undoubtedly be quick to replicate this holiday season).

And while it may be a minute until you, too, can get your hands on the jumpsuit — it was plucked from the designer's Spring/Summer 2020 collection — you can give Delevingne's eye makeup a whirl ASAP. Below, three beauty products that'll leave your lids with a similar snow-white shine.
