Kendall Jenner Just Made This ‘90s Hairstyle Look So Chic

Although Kendall Jenner was born in the '90s, her perfectly curated retro looks say otherwise. The model loves her baggy mom jeans, lives in old-school band tees, and even incorporates her throwback style into her hair. Kendall Jenner's hair clips are the accessories you wore 20 years ago made trendy again.

The 23-year-old attended the launch of Adidas Originals by Olivia Oblanc in London Thurs. night. She braved the 50-degree temps bare-legged in a bright-orange snakeskin-effect dress. The mock-neck mini by Norwegian designer Peter Dundas features long sleeves, padded shoulders, and an asymmetric silhouette. Jenner accessorized it with trend-forward, transparent PVC sandal heels and, adhering to the '90s motif, two mismatched hair clips. Now, there's an accessory that isn't often paired with sleek designer dresses.

Leave it to the so-called "Fashion Icon of the Decade" — as The Daily Front Row named her in 2017 — to bring back the bygone trend. Upon first glance, you might actually wonder how her glam squad forgot to remove the clips before letting Jenner leave the makeup chair, but rather, the accessories were an intentional — and essential — part of the look. Jenner wore her hair down and straight, parted in the middle and pulled back on one side with the two chunky pins — one glittery metallic and the other black with white polka dots.

Jenner made the seemingly childish accessories look sleek by pairing them with her sophisticated snakeskin number. They clashed with the elegant ensemble in the most stylish way, adding depth to the mustard-colored dress. But this isn't the first time she's sported '90s-era hair.

The model loves a throwback hair accessory, actually. In 2017, she wore decorative flower pins in La Perla's Fall/Winter show during New York Fashion Week. Not long after, she brought back the bandage headband, an accessory that hasn't been worn outside of the gym for decades. Just this past Sept., Jenner copied the models from Prabal Gurung's Fall 2018 show, who all wore stretch-comb headbands. Remember those?

Her friends Bella and Gigi Hadid are fans of the retro trend, too. The former has not only been wearing an old-school banana clip with nearly all her off-duty looks lately, but has also boldly sported as many as four oversized metal barrettes at one time.

The models' high-fashion looks prove that '90s hair pins are no longer just for face washing and going to the gym. They can be paired with your most trend-forward ensembles, too. Feeling inspired by Jenner's throwback style? Ahead, The Zoe Report's favorite hair clips.
