Why This VS Angel Thinks Weightlifting Is Better Than Cardio

by Allie Flinn

One of the most pervasive fitness myths is that lifting weights while female will make you “bulky.” If the wealth of information out there debunking this belief doesn’t convince you to pick up a dumbbell, perhaps a peek at Victoria’s Secret Angel Josephine Skriver’s workout routine will.

The Danish model said recently that her shape majorly changed after cutting back on cardio and adding in weightlifting. “It’s been a long process to figure out what works for me,” she says. “What worked was lifting weights. It did wonders for my body.”

Lifting weights also did wonders for her confidence: “I’ve gotten to the point where I can squat my own body weight and I’m like, ‘Damn yes!‘ You feel so strong—especially as a girl, you’re like, ‘You can’t tell me I can’t do this.'”

She also shares that she’s a morning workout person (because Netflix is too tempting at the end of the day) and that she loves breakfast. “I’m such a breakfast person. I sometimes like to have two breakfasts and no lunch. I could do brunch every day,” she says. Same, girl. Same.
