Spring’s Most Glamorous Trend (to Wear Now)

Armando Grillo

Whether your grew up dreaming of being a Disney princess or a punk rock princess (of the Courtney Love variety), you are going to love the jewelry trend spotted on the Spring 2016 runways: the tiara. Much maligned for its bachelorette party connotations, the petite crown has lately been given high fashion’s blessing as a cooler alternative to the classic headband. Hedi Slimane paired it with bomber jackets, slip dresses and galoshes at Saint Laurent; Miu Miu’s models wore theirs with prim blouses and car coats (above). Meanwhile, Nicolas Ghesquiere added one to the candy pink hair of his first model at Louis Vuitton. This all begs the question: Why not wear blinged-out accessories on our heads? We let diamonds swing from our ears, dangle from our wrists and wrap around our necks and fingers. Of course, it takes a bit of confidence to wear a tiara with a straight face—and very specific styling. Above, 5 of our favorite tiaras to wear now and one very cool look to pair with it.
