At just 18 years old, Yara Shahidi has already secured a spot for herself as a talented actor and an outspoken social activist, all while managing to hop on board with the latest and greatest fashion trends. The Grown-ish star may be young, but her refined style proves that she's wise beyond her years. And on Wed., Yara Shahidi's black crop top offered a new and sophisticated way to wear a midriff-baring outfit.

Shahidi had a busy day on Jan. 2, when she attended multiple press events promoting the second season premiere of her hit television show, Grown-ish. The actor was photographed in three distinctly different looks while out in New York City, but one of her unique ensembles was especially eye catching.

Offering up a polished take on a crop top, Shahidi wore a black long-sleeve with a twisted front by Nanushka, a Hungarian label that's recently gained popularity in the celebrity sphere. She paired the top with high-waisted flare jeans by TRE by Natalie Ratabesi that featured a contrasting hem and suspender-like details.

No street style look is complete without the perfect accessories, and Shahidi absolutely delivered with a pair of ultra-tall Casadei platforms in a royal-blue hue. She added silver statement earrings, stunned with her iconic radiant complexion, and sported her natural shoulder-length curls.

In collaboration with her stylist, Jason Bolden, Shahidi attained total elegance while baring just the right amount of midriff. Although a crop top may not seem like the most adult piece to add to your wardrobe, a twisted style makes it all the more classic. Pair a cropped t-shirt with high-waisted leggings and sneakers, a cropped sweater with wide-leg denim, or a cropped blouse with your most polished pair of trousers.
