Deciding what to wear to the airport can lead to a landmine of issues. Layers are key for the chilly in-air temperatures, but with summer rapidly approaching, you don't want to overheat before you even board. Selena Gomez's beige cardigan is proof that airport style can be both comfortable and still look put together.

Gomez might not have made it to the 2019 Met Gala in New York City, but she did touch down in France on May 13, just in time for The Cannes Film Festival. The actor, who is at the festival for the premiere of her new movie The Dead Don't Die, looked every bit cozy and polished while leaving the airport — a combination that can be incredibly difficult to achieve.

Gomez's oatmeal-colored cardigan is a relaxed yet elevated piece that's perfect for long-haul flights. The draped, loose-fitting sleeves and longline style gave her entire outfit a more chilled-out, lived-in vibe. Gomez styled her sweater over a cream, two-piece set in a cozy knit fabric. To keep the monochrome theme going, Gomez donned a pair of pointed-toe nude boots. She kept the rest of her accessories minimal, opting for a pair of square-framed sunglasses to complete the look.

Gomez's outfit proves beige can be anything but boring. This season, designers like Khaite, Nanushka, and Burberry have all featured monochromatic looks exclusively in shades of white, cream, and tan at fashion week. Following the influx of bright colors and patterns from seasons past, designers are taking a more subdued turn for spring and summer.

The end result is an outfit that can easily transition from work to play. Swap out Gomez's matching set for a pair of khakis and a white or cream button-down, and you've got a more polished look perfect for the office.

While the beige looks on the runway were more structured — think: classic trench coats and trousers at Burberry — Gomez took a softer approach to the trend with her airport look. To emulate her latest ensemble, try gravitating toward relaxed silhouettes and cozy fabrics. Ahead, The Zoe Report rounded up the best longline cardigans on the market right now to channel Gomez's look with ease.
