Michelle Obama’s Favorite Nail Polish Color Is So Unexpected
When it comes to finding the perfect stocking stuffer, there's one beauty essential you can always turn to. No, I'm not talking about lipstick, though that's a great pick, too — I'm referring to nail polish. A shiny, new nail lacquer makes for a great, fuss-free gift your friends can actually put to use immediately upon unpacking. And though there are hundreds of different shades and formulas to choose from, Michelle Obama's favorite nail polish is sure to be a winning pick.
In a recent interview with People, the former First Lady revealed her all-time favorite nail polish — and it's a quite unexpected color of choice. So, which lacquer lands at the top of Obama's beauty list, you ask? A limited-edition OPI pick that was actually created in collaboration with Disney, a partnership that came to fruition in honor of The Nutcracker and the Four Realms movie release (now in theaters everywhere).
Obama's go-to shade is dubbed "Dreams Need Clara-Fication," a soft, icy-blue hue that's likely to conjure up thoughts of Cinderella's iconic blue dress upon first glance. The Former First Lady says she considers the color her perfect year-round shade. “This is one of my go-to nail colors," she shared. "It is actually similar to the shade that I wore for my portrait sitting with Amy Sherald for the National Portrait Gallery. It’s the perfect color for any season.”
If you take a quick look through some of Obama's recent outfits (and her perfectly manicured nails), you'll see that she's no stranger to neutral-colored polishes, oftentimes favoring versatile whites and soft beiges. But the former First Lady isn't the only one to favor barely-there colors. The Duchess of Cambridge is known to keep it rather understated and natural-looking when it comes to her manicures, picking subdued hues over bright, bold ones.
Obama's polish of choice is buildable, so you can keep it looking sheer (how she likely wears it), or apply multiple coats for vibrant, eye-catching color. What's more, this particular formula promises up to seven days of wear, so you won't have to reapply throughout the week. And at just $12.50, it certainly won't break the bank, whether you're buying it as a stocking stuffer or simply adding it to your own collection.
While bright-red nails seem like a no-brainer come holiday party season, why not mix things up this year by stepping outside of your go-to festival hues? Ahead, shop The Zoe Report's roundup of wintertime polishes that make for great gifts, including Obama's go-to shade.
