Since the days of Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany's, pearls have emerged as an iconic symbol of class, grace, and elegance. However, the old-school style has made a return of epic proportions in the form of trendy, contemporary jewelry. Kate Middleton's pearl drop earrings exemplify the Duchess's personal style — the ultimate mix of classic and modern.

Middleton was photographed Weds. morning as she and her family departed Buckingham Palace on their way to Queen Elizabeth's annual Christmas lunch. While the public only got a glimpse of the Duchess' look from the window of the passenger's seat, her delicate pearl earrings have already proven to be a cause for conversation.

The Duchess' latest accessory choice is a pair of earrings by In2Design, a Swedish-American jewelry label whose philosophy rests on the idea that "high-quality, hand-made jewelry should also be fun and affordable." No stranger to re-wearing her favorite pieces, it comes as little surprise that Middleton's opted for the Baroque Pearl Drop Earrings before. The Duchess wore the same pair while touring Sweden in Jan. and at the Wimbledon Ladies Singles Final in July.

Simply being a member of the royal family grants jewelry privileges that many people can only dream of (hello, diamond-encrusted tiaras), however, Middleton scooped up her earrings for $152.

Middleton's of-the-moment take on pearls is an easy way to add a trendy component to an otherwise simple outfit. Make like royalty and pair your pearl drops with a bold pink blouse, or keep it neutral in a black sweater and a camel coat. Take a much needed break from your everyday studs in favor of this sophisticated style.

Sadly, Middleton's exact earrings are no longer available online, but there are still plenty of similar options to choose from. Ahead, shop The Zoe Report's favorite pearl earrings to liven up your jewelry box.
