It's pretty clear that women will continue to wear the pants even as we ease into warmer temperatures. Power suits and menswear-inspired slacks are still going strong with Hollywood and the fashion crowd alike, and Jennifer Lawrence's suspender trousers are a unique spin on the work-ready trend. The Hunger Games actor hit the stage at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York on Sat., discussing her career trajectory with longtime collaborator, director David O. Russell. Wearing the black high-waisted trousers from Brunello Cucinelli's Fall 2019 collection, the 28-year-old offset the retro look with fire red pumps, hoop earrings, and blond locks styled in a sleek middle part.

The Academy Award-winning actor has kept a relatively low profile since getting engaged to art mogul Cooke Maroney, aside from making a surprise cameo at a famous New York bar with Adele back in March. The crowd at Tribeca was thrilled to see the Kentucky native, buzzing as she reflected on past projects Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle, with Russell revealing he initially thought Lawrence was too young to be cast in the former, which she eventually won Best Actress for.

Despite her affinity for seriously dazzling red-carpet looks, Lawrence generally keeps her street style pretty low-key, often opting for simple slacks, blazers, tees, and denim. This particular look was a bit more elevated thanks to the vibrant pumps and vest, but still fell in line with the actor's understated aesthetic.

Even though style tastemakers like Bella Hadid and Kaia Gerber have been styling trousers in classic and creative ways for a good minute now, adding suspenders is a new and noteworthy twist to try.
