Closing out the X-Men saga at the premiere for the comic book franchise's cinematic finale, Dark Phoenix, the star-studded cast hit the red carpet in Los Angeles on Tues., and Jennifer Lawrence's black dress was true perfection. The Academy Award-winning actor has been on a roll in terms of style lately, with her pink gown from Rosie Assoulin stealing the show at the Veuve Clicquot polo match last weekend. After taking a year-long break from the big screen, the Silver Linings Playbook star is back with a bang, serving back-to-back next-level looks like a pro.

The Dior ambassador opted for a floor-length gown by the French luxury fashion house, keeping her red carpet style classic and refined for the event. With an eye-catching plunging neckline, a fitted waist, and a voluminous pleated skirt, the dark number made Lawrence's bold smokey eye pop. Accompanied with an updo featuring wavy, face-framing tendrils, the look was complete with a nude lip and a silver chain necklace.

Later in the night, the 28-year-old departed from the dark side, opting for a formfitting, nude sequin-encrusted gown by Galvan London at the after party. As proven by the prompt switch-up, the Hunger Games star has no issues pulling off a wide range of silhouettes and color waves.

With summer festivities on the horizon, you may be in the market for pretty gowns to round out your formal lineup. Or perhaps you're on the hunt for airy, office-ready staples you can depend on. As proven by J-Law's elegant pick, and contrary to popular opinion, black certainly isn't off limits for warmer months. Whether you're headed to an event or the boardroom, a structural black dress is always a solid choice. The Zoe Report rounded up plunging styles similar to Lawrence's, with some being more risqué than others — ahead.
