The start of fall means it's officially time to put away your summer pieces and swap them out for more weather-conscious items like oversized sweaters, trench coats, and ankle boots. But what if your most stylish summer options could be seamlessly incorporated into your fall lineup? If you want to know exactly how to wear shorts in fall, look no further than Alexa Chung's latest fashion week outfit.

Chung is rarely caught in an outfit that doesn't make headlines. The 34-year-old was photographed outside of the Miu Miu show in Paris on Tues. wearing an untraditional yet incredibly cool look. Chung combined pieces inspired by fall and summer to construct the ultimate transitional-weather look — and there's a good chance you'll be copying it immediately.

The prime focus of Chung's outfit was her studded, leather shorts by Miu Miu. The leg-baring piece feature a lace-up front detail and a western-inspired, distressed material. Chung adhered to the weather by wearing a pair of transparent, black tights underneath.

The designer paired the bottoms with a simple, neutral sweater with a relaxed fit and a tweed handle bag. To dress up for the occasion, Chung added patent-leather heels with a unique buckle, as well as a statement pearl necklace. As usual, Chung demonstrated perfectly imperfect, messy waves with face-framing fringe.

Chung was joined in the Miu Miu front row by Kate Mara, Poppy Delevingne, and Juliette Lewis, all dressed to impress in their various unique, stylish get-ups for one of the most anticipated shows of the season. Suffice it to say, Chung's outfit choice was an easy (and unexpected) win.

Bringing a summer piece like shorts into your fall wardrobe is a lot easier than it looks, and you definitely don't have to be celebrity to experiment with the trend. Ahead, shop The Zoe Report's outfit ideas for integrating shorts into your everyday look this season and beyond.
