How To Style White Pants The Katie Holmes Way

White trousers have undergone a major reputation overhaul lately, starting as a polo-playing, country club pant and turning into the ultimate fashion girl essential. They've been barred from your closet for so long now, however, that you probably don't have the first idea of what to wear them with. Let Katie Holmes' latest outfit be a lesson in how to style white pants.

You can wear a pair of high-waisted flares with your pretty floral crop tops this spring or you could go business-chic with wide-leg bottoms and a coordinating blazer. Dress them up with a bright-colored pump or keep them casual with a chunky sneaker. The possibilities are endless, but you know Holmes likes to keep it simple.

When she isn't glammed up for the Met Gala or wearing some other bold statement look at a runway show, you'll typically find the actor running her usual errands around New York in something comfortable.

That was the case on Weds., when she debuted her new white cropped pants. The trousers feature subtle frayed hems and a super-relaxed fit. Holmes paired them with white Adidas sneakers and a boxy beige pinstriped top with puffy sleeves, throwing a lightweight gray sweater over it when she got cold.

A refreshing change from the baggy denim she's been living in lately, the 40-year-old's white pants are right on track with spring trends. Probably every fashion blogger and celebrity you follow on Instagram has traded out their blue jeans for white pants these days — EmRata, J. Lo, Gigi Hadid, and every one of the Kardashian-Jenner clan has, too.

Bold dressers are having a heyday with the white-on-white theme, while others prefer to play it safe with a simple knot-front tee or button-up blouse.

Holmes' latest look is proof that you don't have to "go big or go home" with the white pants trend. Simply ease them into your weekend wardrobe this spring with a pair of cozy culottes like hers.
