There are certain wardrobe staples that are highly inadvisable to wear during summer's muggiest months. Wool blazers, velvet dresses, and other insulating pieces are better left in the confines of your closet this time of year. However, some items — like women's suits — can be adapted for summer's high temperatures. This year especially, brands are finding creative ways to reimagine the standard blazer and bottoms. “The perfect summer outfit for me is all about a crop top paired with a high-waisted menswear pant," Shopbop Fashion Director Caroline Huang Maguire tells TZR. "Opt for a naked sandal and a lightweight blazer for a super transitional and chic look.”

It seems as though other fashion industry insiders are also cued in on the trend. Street style regulars including Jenny Walton, Shiona Turini, and Aimee Song have all been recently spotted wearing different iterations on standard suiting, swapping trousers for shorts, or styling a colorful suit with a cute crop top. The trend is well-suited (pun highly intended) for summer because bare legs or midriff are both ideal for keeping cool in hot temperatures. It may not be the best option for every office, but even so, it's a creative party or date night outfit idea. For a touch of inspiration and some shopping picks, continue ahead to explore why a summer suit should be on your radar for the sunniest months to come.

Short Suit

If the idea of wearing a blazer and pants simply seems to hot for you then consider wearing a short suit, instead. It will still look polished and also happens to look great with a crop top as well. Grab one in a pretty turquoise hue for a pop of color.

If you're opting for a more traditional fabric or color for your summer suit then jazz things up with a textured crop top, like Jenny Walton's eyelet iteration. It feels fresh, fun, and the two aesthetics contrast each other nicely.

Bold + Bright

What better way to embrace a summer suit than by incorporating another of-the-moment trend like tie-dye? Follow Shiona Turini's lead and wear yours with a simple, solid crop top and ankle-strap sandals.

Suiting Separates

For a summer take, try splitting up your summer suiting and styling a linen or silk blazer with an on-trend pair of bike shorts.

Summer Neutrals

Consider this neutral summer suit and white crop combination a go-to option when you don't have time to put together an outfit but need to look effortlessly cool.

Suiting + Sports Bra

If you've dipped your toes in the athleisure trend pond, then give your ensemble a sporty twist. Rather than wearing a crop top with your summer suiting, slip into your favorite sports bra for a cool sporty ensemble.

Relaxed Suiting

Searching for an interesting vacation outfit? Consider packing a suit and crop top. Not only does it translate well to an abroad kind of setting, you can also mix and match the pieces with whatever else you brought along.

Tonal Ensemble

If you tend to go for a bolder color palette, don't miss out on a bright suit moment, like Aimee Song's. She wore her cobalt set with a tonal crop and the result was all kinds of cool.

Pop Of Color

Just in case you were wondering hot to wear a tube top in 2019, this is how.
