As Coco Chanel once said, "A woman who cuts her hair is about to change her life." While it's not entirely possible to know everything that contributes to a celebrity transformation, one thing's for sure: When an A-list celebrity cuts their hair, people notice. Emilia Clarke's new haircut may not signify anything deeper than a fun change, but that doesn't make it any less exciting.

On Thurs., the actor took to Instagram to debut the coolest, choppiest pixie haircut. Her roots are still on the darker side, while the layered ends are a warm, dirty-blonde hue. The cut itself is unique, as it features a longer top layer, complete with face-framing bangs that can be styled in a multitude of ways. Wear it messy by flipping it all on one side (similar to the Instagram photo, below), or blow it out in a sleek side part for a more polished look.

Although her fans are used to seeing the Game of Thrones actor in a serious role, Clarke showcased her comedic side with the cheekiest caption on her Instagram post. She paid homage to the it couple of the early '90s, writing, "Me: I’m thinking when Gwyneth and Brad had the same hair cut. @jennychohair: I got ‘chu".

Clarke, a veteran of hair changes, has had just about every style imaginable during her rise to fame over the past few years. When she began her role as Khaleesi on HBO's cult favorite television series Game of Thrones in 2011, the actor relied on an icy-blonde wig during filming. For the most recent season, she decided to dive all in and bleach her naturally brunette hair a platinum blonde (almost white) shade for the role.

In a recent interview with Harper's Bazaar UK, Clarke discussed the difficulties that come along with bleaching your hair. "I’m honestly trying to grow out the blond, because it’s just killed my hair, and I miss having nice hair!" she said.

It should come as no surprise, then, that the 31-year-old opted to make the chop and practically start her hair journey from scratch. She continued during the same interview, "I do bloody love long hair, but then I’m always dreaming of cutting it all off and having a pixie cut — but I don’t know that my face could take it.” Obviously, her face absolutely can.
