Bella Hadid has had some pretty memorable fashion moments in her time. The tastemaker's retro-inspired, street-chic looks always manage to make a major splash in the fashion world (while also sparking some serious early aughts nostalgia), but the 22-year-old's outfits aren't always her own doing. The mastermind behind many of Hadid's best getups? Celeb stylist, Elizabeth Sulcer, who clearly knows and thing or two about making even the most simple of wardrobe basics look incredibly chic. Hadid's off-duty looks are proof, but so are Sulcer's own.

On Weds., Sulcer was photographed en route to an intimate dinner — held at New York City-based eatery, Indochine — to celebrate the preview of the Philosophy di Lorenzo Serafini Resort 2020 collection. Fashion was the focus of said gathering, so you can bet the attendees, which also included the likes of Nicky Hilton, really showed up in their best.

While many opted for fresh prints and bold silhouettes, Sulcer's evening ensemble proved the power of simplicity. Sure, traffic-stopping hues might be trending this season, but if there's one thing the stylist's latest look proved, it's that head-to-toe black — the quintessential New York-girl uniform — will always be in style.

The base of Sulcer's look consisted of a black leather mini skirt. And though she could have easily paired the buttery piece with a puff-sleeve blouse, she reached for a tried-and-true wardrobe basic you likely have on hand, too: a simple black camisole with the most perfect scoop neck.

The fashion powerhouse rounded out her look with sophisticated essentials, including an ultra-refined longline blazer (that she casually wore off the shoulders), classic black pumps, a diamond choker, and a black satin headband. Each accessory played a hand at elevating the sleek black tank top.

As Sulcer's latest outfit makes very clear, a classic black cami does, in fact, deserve a spot in your street-style looks this season. While it's oftentimes dubbed a layering essential, it can be just as commanding when worn on its own — simply follow the stylist's lead and amp it up with accessories.
