Get A Room: The Ace Hotel In Los Angeles

For the second installment of our Get A Room series, we decided to keep things local. The Ace Hotel in Downtown Los Angeles is barely a year old and has already captured the design-loving hearts of tourists and locals alike. The hotel is situated in a beautiful 1920s Art Deco structure where stark concrete ceilings are juxtaposed with glam claw-foot tubs. A collaborative effort between the Ace Hotel team and LA-based creative collective Commune Design, the space exudes a truly unique, old-meets-new feel. Can’t hop a plane (or the 10 freeway) to check out this gem in person? We’ll show you how to get the hotel’s distinct look in your home sweet home.

Stellar Décor Inspo In The Heart Of Downtown

Taking up a prime piece of Downtown real estate (the former United Artists building, to be exact), the hotel boasts a beautiful rooftop bar, pool and lounge area with views for days. The adjoining The Theater at Ace Hotel is one of the best local venues to check out a live act.

Indulge In Some Beauty Sleep

Have you ever walked into a hotel room and instantly felt at home? Such is the case for most out-of-towners and staycation-loving locals upon entering these contemporary yet comfy guest rooms. Each one is equipped with cool-kid décor staples like Pendleton bedspreads, leather seating and a record player (of course).

Turning your bedroom into a relaxing escape is as simple as swapping your boring bedspread for a color-happy Pendleton blanket, investing in some brass accents and ditching the iPhone for a retro record player.

Love Is In The Details

No detail was spared when creating the sleek, minimalistic look of the bath areas. We're talking brass knobs, white marble and leather details by the sink. Brilliant.

The Ace is known for stocking bathrooms with all natural soap-on-a-rope from Portland-based brand Pearl Plus. Lucky for us, they're on sale to the public too. Try incorporating leather and brass by way of artsy catchalls and nifty hooks.

Best Seat In The House

While some hotels may skew too fancy for comfort, here the overall vibe is perfectly lived-in. We attribute this to the slew of comfy chairs and generously strewn cushions.

Any space greatly benefits from a thoughtful, modern touch like a Hermal Miller stool (which can also be used as a side table) or a no-frills chair.

Lounge Like You Mean It

Nestled right above LA Chapter (the in-house restaurant with a crave-worthy menu), the communal lounge area is a study in comfortable luxury. Guests are welcome to utilize the space for casual lunches, coffees and evening hangouts before heading to the rooftop bar.

A faux cow-hide rug is guaranteed to elevate your abode's aesthetic, especially when combined with leather seating and edgy accessories.
