A self-described “naughty square,” British designer Misha Nonoo is equal parts brilliant and relatable. We recently caught up with her at LA’s Chateau Marmont to talk about her newest projects and her refreshing approach to the fashion industry. Having pioneered the Insta-show format for her Spring 2016 collection and holding a firm belief that clothing shouldn’t be expendable or wasteful, her many accolades are warranted (she was a finalist for the 2013 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund and was named one of Forbes’ 30 under 30 as well as Crain’s New York Business’ 40 under 40). If that weren’t enough, the road warrior also has traveling with only one carry-on down to a science. Naturally, we asked her for a few of her other life hacks in hopes we can get our own lives in order. Here are her top five tips.
"Allot a specific amount of time for emails and social media each day. Cutting yourself off will make you more productive and focused. I promise, you won't even miss it."
"Envision yourself achieving your goals. When you play out the scenario of success in your mind and focus on positive thoughts, your confidence will soar!"
"When you need to have an important conversation, do it face-to-face rather than over text or Instagram messages. This will alleviate a lot of miscommunication, which can be the source of much wasted time and energy."
"Even if only for a few minutes, take the time to meditate each day. It will focus your heart and mind, and reset your perspective on everything."
"Dress for the life you want, and be ready for anything and everything! Build your closet with versatile essentials that can take you from 9am to 9pm, or what I call #DayToPlay!"
